Facebook Home will operate on phones running Google Inc.’s Android software and present Facebook status updates, messages and other content on the home screen, rather than making the user fire up Facebook’s app. The software will be available for users to download on April 12 and will come preloaded on a new phone from HTC Corp., sold by AT&T Inc. in the U.S. Read More →

Foreign Student Says He Paid $3,000 for McDonald's Work Study

A student from Argentina said he was “exploited” by a work-study program at a McDonald’s franchise in Pennsylvania.

Jorge Rios, 27, came to the United States in December 2012. As part of a J-1 summer work travel program with a student work visa from the U.S. State Department, Rios said he was not paid overtime and had to be on call at all times of the day as an employee at a McDonald’s near Harrisburg, Pa.

He and about 17 other foreign students say they paid around $3,000 to $4,000 for visa costs, plane tickets and other expenses.

“We have been exploited by McDonald’s because we have been working for McDonald’s but we did not receive overtime or the fact that we have been put to be on-call all day had to do with the way McDonald’s designed our schedules,” Read More →

Ferrari Enzo gets its rally on, sullying the rich, This will make Ferrari lovers cringe …

Unlike its supercar rivals, Ferrari has ignored the world’s demand for off-road vehicles to focus exclusively on how to go faster over pavement. Which makes this video — the first in the world showing one of 400 rare Ferrari Enzos taking its 660-hp V-12 mudding with a “TAXTHRICH” faux license plate — all the more remarkable.
This will make Ferrari lovers cringe ...
The video comes courtesy of an anonymous group known as TaxTheRich100, based somewhere in Britain, which has managed to lay hands on a range of exotic rides and take them off-roading, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Bugatti EB110 and a Ferrari F50. While the Enzo gets treated with kid gloves, whomever’s behind the wheel has no fear of throwing a multimillion-dollar car around a bit.
Even though the Enzo’s performance has been eclipsed by more recent Ferrari, it has held up over the past decade as the Read More →

Fugitive ex-cop Dorner barricaded in cabin after reportedly killing another officer

The cabin where former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner is believed to be barricaded is now on fire. Numerous shots were heard near the cabin about 30 minutes ago.

It is unknown if Dorner is still inside, but officers at the scene are taking a wait-and-see approach. Thick black smoke and flames can been seen coming from the mountain cabin.

Police and tactical units are requesting that the fire personnel stay back.

Overheard from authorities on the police radio channel:

“Hold until we start mop up with fire.”

“Still not ready for fire. There’s a lot of smoldering.”

“More ammo going off.”

“Fire doing quite well. I’m going to let it go.”

Police want to let the fire burn through the basement as a precaution before entering. A firefighter raised in that residence is on the scene, and is telling officers that the basement is 12 x 15 feet. The ceiling of the basement is wood. Read More →

Baby mom got her baby :9-Year-Old Reportedly Gives Birth In Mexico

According to the Telegraph, the child, identified as ‘Dafne,’ had a c-section and delivered a 5.7 pound baby at Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco.
9-year-old gives birth
The girl’s mother says the father is a 17-year-old boy who has since run away.

“Due to her young age, we don’t know if she is being entirely truthful,” Lino Ginzalez Corona, spokesperson at Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office, said in a press conference. Corona added that authorities are “still open to the possibility of rape or child sex abuse.”

Not only was Dafne 8-years-old when she was impregnated but she is reportedly the mother of 11 other children. Her parents were unable to watch her while they worked.

This isn’t the first case of baby mama drama. A 9-year-old Chinese girl allegedly had a baby boy in 2010 while a Colombian girl gave birth last year.

Diabetes type 2 and symptoms

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition that affects over sixteen million Americans. For unknown reasons, the number of people suffering from diabetes has increased drastically. America is now referring to diabetes as an epidemic because of the increasing number of cases.

Diabetes is a disease or disorder in the body’s ability to change glucose (sugar) into energy. Glucose is the main source of energy for a person. When food is digested it converts into proteins, fats, or carbohydrates. The food that affects the blood sugar is carbohydrates. When digested, carbohydrates convert to glucose. Examples of some carbohydrates include bread, potatoes, corn, and pasta. If you have diabetes you can eat carbohydrates, but the intake must be limited. The glucose that is made from the carbohydrates is transferred to the blood and is utilized by the cells for energy. To have glucose transferred from the blood into the cells, insulin (a hormone) is required. Insulin is made by the beta cells n the pancreas (organ that produces insulin). Those who have diabetes cannot perform this process. Their pancreas is unable to produce proper amounts of Read More →

Lindsey Vonn tears knee ligaments in super-G crash; Olympic bid in doubt

Lindsey Vonn sustained tears to the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligament in her right knee in a crash during the world championships in Schladming, Austria, a source close to the Alpine Olympic gold medalist told Yahoo! Sports. The U.S. ski team confirmed the injury and said Vonn also suffered a lateral tibial plateau fracture in her right leg.
Lindsey Vonn tears knee ligaments in super-G crash; Olympic bid in doubt
The injuries are expected to require surgery as well as a lengthy rehabilitation and could jeopardize Vonn’s 2014 Olympic bid in Sochi, Russia. The U.S. Ski team said in a statement that Vonn will be out for the remainder of this season but “is expected to return to racing for the 2013-14 Audi FIS World Cup season and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.”
Following a lengthy fog delay, Vonn crashed midway through the super-G course during the world championship event. She came off a jump and caught the edge of her right ski and twisted her leg violently before going down. She lay on the course for 12 minutes before being airlifted.

Vonn returned to skiing full time in January after being hospitalized for two days in November with an intestinal illness. She said publicly that she was still recovering from the illness, which kept her off the ski course for 11 days before she resumed practice. Read More →

Google rumored to be launching 2nd generation Nexus 10

Google rumored to be launching 2nd generation Nexus 10

Though its sales haven’t approached iPad levels, Google’s Nexus 10 is a beast. It has the sharpest display of any tablet, one of the fastest mobile processors, and a US$400 starting price. But, impressive as its hardware is, the Nexus 10 isn’t perfect. Google reportedly realizes this, and is ready to improve on its formula with a 2nd-gen Nexus 10.
According to Bright Side of News, Google wasn’t completely satisfied with the Nexus 10′s performance. Its Samsung Exynos chip benchmarks with the best, but still struggles with the device’s 2,560 x 1,600 display.

Google’s answer? How about an upgraded Nexus 10 with quad-core processing and eight-core graphics (the source suspects ARM’s Mali T678 GPU). This would help to a) drive the display’s over four million pixels without hiccups, and b) move its performance closer to that of a desktop gaming PC.

Old and new
Apart from the upgraded CPU and GPU, the 2nd-gen Nexus 10 will remain largely the same. It will sport the same ultra-sharp display as its predecessor, along with an equal 2 GB of RAM. The source reportedly viewed a prototype that had an identical exterior to the original, but didn’t rule out minor changes to the market version.

Google’s manufacturing partner is unconfirmed, but if the tablet retains many features from the original Nexus 10, that would almost certainly (again) make it Read More →
